Application
My private piano teacher, Mrs. Betty Stoloff, constantly realizes my needs as a learner and challenges me as a pianist and musician. I performed an hour-long junior recital a year early because she and I both realized that I could motivate myself to go beyond the basic requirements for a junior recital. I have also had numerous occasions in Critical Pedagogy classes in past semesters with learning to recognize how to create a proper learning environment. Part of my philosophy of education includes incorporating love into the learning environment to create a 'safe haven' for students to discover themselves. I have been able to create my own safe learning environments while tutoring piano secondary students at Westminster because I have realized them as individual students, each with different problems that require different solutions based on their learning types.
