History and Philosophy of Music Education
As a requirement of the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Westminster, History and Philosophy of Music Education not only expanded my scope of philosophical ideas but also helped me explore the historical context and progression of the field of music education. I was able to delve most deeply into John Dewey's ideas on education through some of our written and class discussions, and in my final philosophy paper found below. Our class also discussed the ideas of Peter Webster, Bennett Reimer, and Lucy Green, examined Plato and Aristotle's writings on education, and attended a guest lecture on campus after studying the philosophies of Marissa Silverman.
