Conducting Fellowship with the Princeton Girlchoir under Ms. Lynnel Joy Jenkins
During the fall semester of 2013, I had the fantastic opportunity to work with Ms. Lynnel Joy Jenkins and the Princeton Girlchoir. I was accepted into the position of Conducting Fellow for the Ensemble of Princeton Girlchoir, which is one of the more competitive auditioned groups in the Girlchoir. The girls of Ensemble did several concerts during the semester, including a concert at Nassau Presbyterian Church where they sang Britten's full Ceremony of Carols with live harp. I learned so much from these girls and Ms. Jenkins about teaching, singing, and being a musician. These girls were some of the most excellent musicians I have ever seen, from sight-reading to musicianship to general cohesion as a group. Ms. Jenkins is also one of the best teachers I have ever seen. She empowers these girls in their musicianship by having them make musical and problem-solving decisions during rehearsals and performances. I took so much from this experience, and I hope to someday create an ensemble in which my students feel as competent, confident, and proud of their work as these girls are in Ensemble.

Fundamentals of Conducting with Professor Tom Shelton
This course focuses on developing conducting philosophy and technique using the relationships between body, ear, and the choral sound. In this course, several recorded conducting evaluations were a part of the grading process. The following videos, in order from earliest to latest, show my progress in this class.

Winds and Percussion with Dr. Janet Cape
This class introduces the student to the pedagogy of wind, brass,and percussion instruments. We learned to play several different instruments, transposed, and wrote beginner band arrangements. The following is a recording of the rehearsal of my beginner band arrangement of "Day-O" and the arrangement itself.

Conducting the Governor Mifflin Marching Band
2009 to 2011
From my junior to senior year of high school, I was given the honor of the position of Drum Major for Governor Mifflin's Marching Mustangs. The band director selected the Drum Major through an auditioned process which included conducting, directing and teaching the band, and interview questions. This position was very unique in that it was student and staff in one position. I was expected to address the band, give directions when needed, and become a temporary director or leader of rehearsal when needed and appropriate. I discovered some of my deepest inspiration in becoming a music teacher during this time in my life. I found how to be confident in my abilities as a musician, conductor, teacher, student, and peer to others.
